H100/H200 historical arc: Azure ND H100 v5 GA (Aug 2023), H200 announced for 2024 fleet

NVIDIA's official blog confirms the historical timeline of Hopper-generation GPUs on Azure. Aug 7, 2023: Azure ND H100 v5 VMs (8x NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs per VM, NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand, 3,200 Gbps cross-node bandwidth) reached general availability -- Azure's first H100 offering, achieving up to 2x inference speedup on BLOOM-175B vs. prior-generation instances. Nov 15, 2023 (Microsoft Ignite): Microsoft announced the NC H100 v5 series (industry-first cloud instances with NVIDIA H100 NVL GPUs, dual PCIe H100s via NVLink, ~4 petaflops AI compute, 188GB HBM3) plus confidential-computing NCC H100 v5 VMs, and announced plans to add the NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPU (141GB HBM3e, 4.8 TB/s bandwidth) to the Azure fleet in 2024 for larger-model inference. This establishes Azure's NVIDIA GPU history predates the GB200/GB300/Blackwell era by roughly two years.
