SpaceX relies on EchoStar Corporation
SpaceX agreed to acquire 65 MHz of EchoStar's AWS-4/H-block spectrum for $17 billion to expand Starlink Direct-to-Cell and hybrid terrestrial/space network capacity. The FCC approved the transaction on May 12-13, 2026, and the initial Spectrum Transfer Closing occurred May 22, 2026; the final Spectrum Acquisition Closing (full transfer of underlying licenses) remains targeted for 2027 and has not yet occurred.
